Somatik Cannabis-Infused Cold Brew Coffee ($12)
Waking and baking just got a whole lot easier thanks to a new coffee label infusing their beans with buds!
Teaming up with San Francisco’s Ritual Coffee, artisanal edibles company Somatik has created a cold brew coffee whose packaging resembles that of what you’d see in your local grocery—except it’s bottled with THC! Well, infused, to be exact. 15 milligrams of premium THC (roughly several hits off a joint) infused into a cold brew made with beans from western Columbia. The beans are steeped in cold water for 12 hours to produce a coffee that Somatik describes as “light-bodied and smooth with subtle notes of cherry, a hint of herbaceous flavor, and undertones of bright lemon.”
“Cannabis is a lot like coffee in that everyone has their routine,” said Somatik founder Christopher Schroeder. “I wanted to show that you could actually build a routine around cannabis that [keeps you] functional and does help you.”
Somatik’s current offering includes both a 30 mg and 10 mg bottle of cold brew as well as “Coffee Bean Sparks”—artisanal edible coffee bean chocolates with 3 mg each of THC. They also have Goji Berry Sparks that forgo the psychoactive THC in favor of a 2:1 CBD ratio, with each berry containing 3 mg of cannabinoids for “a synergistic effect that’s antioxidant-rich and great for stress, pain, or relaxation.”
Right now Somatik is only offered in California, but with their carefully designed packaging, robust flavors, and feel-good mission, a successful expansion into other states is sure to be just around the corner.
