Outlier Injected Linen Collection ($198-$650)
When it comes to dressing up in the hot summer months, few fabrics come close to the comfort and style offered up by linen. Whether it’s a lightweight linen shirt and blazer or loose-fitting linen pants, the summer-friendly fabric provides a stylish yet breathable alternative to warmer, more traditional clothing materials, making it the perfect option for a steamy summer workday or summer’s night affair. That’s why we were so excited to learn of Outlier’s new Injected Linen Collection.
Founded by Abe Burmeister and Tyler Clemens back in 2008, NYC-based Outlier was formed to create better clothing through both design and technology, and their direct to consumer, online-based approach has clearly been working, as the label has built a rather loyal following since its inception, particularly with their “Experiment” collections—literal clothing experiments in the form of limited-release garments that Outlier tests to gauge consumer interest and feedback.
The new Injected Linen Collection is their latest experiment to date and consists of 8 pieces of clothing all knitted in Japan, then put together in NYC and Portugal. The pieces include both pleated and flat-front pants, pleated shorts, a black two-buttoned blazer, short and long-sleeve popovers, a tunic hood, and a based hood—all of which use an innovative warp-knit, weft-insertion stitch process that makes the linen fabric remarkably more airy than traditional linen, which is already ridiculously lightweight and breathable.
The result? A super-airy, super-comfortable clothing collection whose modern fits and styles are perfect for the hot summer months ahead. And with our first official heat wave already in the books, it looks like we’ll need all the cooling help we can get.
