There are lots of ways to raise money for charity, but one Los Angeles-based cannabis company recently took a more, eh, “enlightened” approach by commissioning a $24,000 joint to auction off for the African Wildlife Foundation.
The joint, created by Stone Road Farms, measured in at 3 feet long and contained more than a pound of marijuana, 6 ounces of concentrate, and 2 ounces of bubble hash. And in case that wasn’t enough of a showstopper, it was also wrapped in $5,000 worth of 24-karat gold leaf, then shaped like an elephant tusk for the charity’s efforts to help protect African elephants against poachers.
“Elephants are being slaughtered in unprecedented numbers,” said Stone Road Farms founder Lex Corwin. “Our generation could literally wipe the most majestic land animal off the face of the earth for all future generations.”
While the elephant tusk-shaped joint was worth $24,000 on paper (see what we did there?), it only brought in $4,000 for the charity. Still, that seemed to be just fine by Corwin.
“Everything was donated, and the person who bought it is my biggest investor, so it’s staying in the family,” he told the Huffington Post. As for actually smoking the thing, he said he would announce plans to hit it and capture it all on video in about six weeks or so.
“Smoking this would definitely be a multi-day endeavor,” he said. “After three or four hits, you’d be couch-locked.”
Indeed we would, but what a couch-lock it would be. Any tokers? Er, takers?
