Tod’s MyGommino Custom Driving Shoes ($510-$6,500)
Tod’s, the luxury Italian shoe, bag, and accessory label that practically invented the “driving shoe” loafer, is now letting you custom design your own Gommino driving shoe any way you please.
First introduced back in 1970, the rubber-grommet-sole shoes were initially created for wealthy Italians to wear in their expensive Italian roadsters. Seeing how well they looked with all sorts of slacks, chinos, suits, and even jeans, the shoes eventually crossed over into the mainstream and have since become a classic staple of casual warm-weather peacocking for gentlemen the world over. Nowadays there seems to be no shortage of style, color, and make of the shoe, with practically every major designer and label selling their own version of the iconic footwear. Still, there’s something to be said for being able to customize your own pair à la NikeiD, and now Tod’s is d’s is making that possible with their own high-end take on it.
Called MyGommino, the program lets you custom design your own pair of mocs from start to finish both online and in select Tod’s stores, then have them shipped directly to you or any Tod’s location of your choosing. And when we say custom, we mean it. From the color of the leather and/or suede to the sole, the laces, and even the stitching! Plus you can also get your own custom monogram and place it pretty much anywhere you’d like—front, back, side, or even inside.
Considering each shoe is hand-crafted and carefully stitched in Italy, such detailed levels of customization are pretty impressive. Of course, so is the price. But hey, you certainly do get what you pay for. Now all you need is the roadster to take them along for the ride.
