Willie Nelson, the legendary country music icon known as much for his laid back country hits as his never-ending hits of cannabis, has finally hopped on the celebrity cannabis bandwagon and joined the list of other well-known cannabis-loving celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Bob Marley to launch his own line of premium, high-end cannabis strains and accessories.
Called Willie’s Reserve, the line consists of sustainably grown, pre-packaged marijuana flower sold in nitrogen-sealed cans, pre-rolled joints, and CO2-extracted cannabis oils in both disposable vape pens and universal-sized vape pen cartridges. With strains like White Widow, Master Kush, and even NYC Diesel (our personal favorite), Willie’s Reserve offers up a little something for everybody by providing the usual variety of sativa, indica, and hybrid options.
However, despite Willie’s rural and farming roots, he isn’t exactly growing the “reserve” out of own his backyard. Instead, like most other celebrity cannabis brands, Willie’s Reserve is partnering with a handful of quality licensed growers in each state. That being said, according to the press release, Willie apparently has “consulted with horticulturalists and cannabis farmers to assure any product labeled Willie’s Reserve will maintain a standard worthy of its name.”
As Willie himself put it, “I am committed to have our crops farmed in an environmentally responsible way; to revitalize small farms and to grow it as clean as possible. So far, I’ve really enjoyed meeting with the best growers.”
So why now? Well, according to the press release, Willie says he’s “smoked enough and wants to give back. Now that legalization is spreading across the country, there’s a great opportunity to build a company that can help a lot of people.” And with a name like Willie Nelson, it shouldn’t be too hard to sell that help either.
Willie’s Reserve is currently available at a handful of dispensaries in Colorado and Washington, with plans to expand to other legalized states in the near future. For more information, you can visit their website at williesreserve.com.
