The Sundance Film Festival wrapped up this past week and, as such, we felt it was fitting to do a recap of what menswear styles were trending at the major cinematic event.

For those who aren’t familiar, the Sundance Film Festival is a cultural hub for independent filmmakers to showcase their latest work in hopes of it becoming a success. The event takes place in Park City, Utah, every year and just ran from January 21st- 31st. While the focus is on film, fashion trends tend to come to life at the event as well since prominent actors are often seen sporting the season’s best and hot street styles can be spotted up and down Main Street.

So what was trending at this year’s 2016 Sundance? A range of styles, but the most noteworthy—possibly due to excessive snow—was how to do Sunday style right. From puffer vests to patterned sweaters, comfort above class was all the rage. Don’t believe us? See for yourself below.

The Puffer Jacket: In recent months, menswear has been dabbling in sports luxe/athleisure wear, and this was largely prevalent at the film festival. From actor John Krasinski to common men on the street—including our favorite, a stoner snowman—guys in and around the festival showcased once again that style and comfort can seamlessly fuse together for a noteworthy look. Try this style out yourself by pairing your go-to jeans with a sweater and/or button-down top and pulling it all together with a puffer jacket of your choice. Tip: The sleeker the puffer, the better.Sundance_Puffer ThreesomeThe Patterned Sweater: These aren’t those 1980’s-style sweaters that can be purchased at your local thrift store. No, the patterned sweaters that have been picking up notice in the fashion world recently are well-fitted pieces with clean, minimal patterns (nothing too over the top). We love the pattern on this actor’s sweater and the way he wore it with a collared shirt beneath. Solid style points for sure.

The Parka Jacket: C’mon, how could this jacket not have made our Sunday Styles at Sundance list? It’s a classic! Not only that, every season this jacket gets a face-lift and always lends itself to newer, more awesome outfits. Check out how the stylish dude below wore a navy parka (that looks warm as hell) over a simple wool patterned sweater, classic jeans, and a pair of rugged slip-on Chelsea boots. See, style doesn’t have to be complicated to look fresh.

The takeaway from this year’s Sundance styles? Be cool. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you can’t still do casual and make it on trend. Throw on a parka, sport a puffer jacket, or own it in a patterned sweater. Whatever your deal, proper Sunday style should feel just like that—a proper Sunday.
