Vuarnet Legend 03 “The Dude” Sunglasses ($280)
Originally created in the 1960’s, Vuarnet’s Model 03 sunglasses became immortalized by Jeff Bridges in the now legendary stoner classic, The Big Lebowski. Today, those same shades have been rebranded as the Legend 03, or simply, “The Dude,” and can now be purchased with some welcomed upgrades.
The classic Model 03’s were inspired by the oversized aviators U.S. Air Force pilots wore in the 1960’s, but that was before the advent of polar lense technology (among other things). Today’s modernized Legend 03 version comes with advanced grey-tinted polarized lenses for crystal clear vision, gorgeous true-to-life color perception, and effective anti-glare, while the frames have been upgraded with integrated monobloc hinges, a removable bridge insert, and a tough shape memory nylon for maximum comfort and durability. And since they’re made in France, they’ll have that extra laissez faire attitude we all know The Dude would abide by.
