Eastpak x Undercover Padded Pak’r XL Backpack ($204)
Talk about a trip. Backpack company Eastpak recently teamed up with Japanese punk-fusion fashion label Undercover for a stylishly creepy collection of backpacks inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s iconic cult classic, 2001: A Space Odyssey.
The collection, which reflects Undercover founder Jun Takahashi’s fascination with different Western and American subcultures, takes Eastpak’s oversized Padded Pak’r XL backpacks and emblazons them with different texts from the acclaimed sci-fi thriller. For example, the words “Logic Memory Center,” referring to the film’s robotic antagonist HAL 9000, are printed in a clean open box design across the top of the backpacks, while more referential text appears on the secondary storage compartment below.
The bags come in red, black, green, and brown and feature several standard functional features, including a padded 15-inch laptop sleeve, padded back and shoulder straps, and a side water bottle sleeve. They’re currently available online at eastpak.com and at select Eastpak retailers.
