Tom Ford helped kick off NY Fashion Week with a rather subdued take on his classic signature style and tailoring. Taking place at New York’s Park Avenue Armory, his namesake label’s Fall/Winter 2019 show featured familiar Tom Ford wears with new seasonal twists coupled with a luxe, yet toned-down eccentricity.
Don’t be fooled—that unmistakable Tom Ford swagger was still on full display in both the men’s and women’s collections, but this year it felt a bit less flamboyant than years past. There was the usual collection of Tom Ford signature suiting, with their impeccable cuts and tailoring, but this time in more muted colorways that included gray, camel, olive, and red. These were followed by a collection of outerwear pieces that consisted of a rather stately peacoat, a slick leather bomber jacket, and puffer coats in both shortened and extended lengths.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Tom Ford affair without that keen attention to detail, and to that end the designer checked off all the appropriate boxes with luxe leather gloves, newsboy caps, stylish square-cut shades, and suede carryalls to finish off the looks.
