Allbirds “Tree Toppers” Sneakers ($115)
Allbirds took the footwear world by storm several years ago with the launch of their innovative “Wool Runners,” a pair of super-comfortable sneakers made from superfine New Zealand merino wool that quickly became a favorite among both hipsters and fashionistas alike. Fast forward 5 years later and the San Francisco-based company is launching their first pair of high-tops.
Called “Tree Toppers,” the new Allbirds forgo the brand’s familiar wool outer for eucalyptus tree fiber, a tree material that’s silky smooth and ultra breathable, with a refreshing cooling-like effect to keep feet light and breezy.
The high-tops also continue in Allbirds environmentally friendly footsteps (see what we did there?) by being completely naturally-derived and renewable, with a mesh upper base making up the eyelets along with recycled laces and a sugarcane-based foam rounding out the sole. Called SweetFoam™, the revolutionary material is the first-ever carbon negative green EVA used for a shoe sole, adding yet another level of sustainability while also offering up an additional layer of cushioning.
The new Tree Toppers are currently available on the Allbirds site and come in 4 different colorways—a green, leaf-like upper/white sole combo (featured cover), a charcoal upper/white sole combo, maroon upper/white sole combo, and a charcoal upper/charcoal sole combo.
