Why wear your passions on your sleeve when you can wear them on your feet? And quite literally, if you’re an avid art enthusiast or Vincent Van Gogh fan, as Vans has just partnered with Amsterdam’s Vincent Van Gogh Museum to bring the legendary artist’s works to life.
The artfully designed collection consists of various footwear and apparel pieces painted with brush stroke-like details of Van Gogh’s works and style, complete with tweaked variations of Vans’ trademark checkerboard pattern and special hangtags offering up historical facts about the featured paintings.
The designs focus on four main bodies of Van Gogh’s work—Sunflowers, Skull, Almond Blossom, and Van Gogh’s self-portraits—all featured in various iterations across Vans’ classic slip-on sneakers, Authentic and Old Skool silhouettes, tees, hoodies, and even a bomber.
For example, an ode to Van Gogh’s Old Vineyard with Peasant Woman is printed across the Old Skool, while a classic Vans slip-on features excerpts from handwritten letters Van Gogh sent to his brother Theo. There’s even custom footbed art on the slip-ons with both the Vans and Van Gogh Museum logos printed across them.
The collection will be available starting tomorrow, August 3rd, at Vans retail stores, select Vans wholesale retailers, the Vans website, and of course the Van Gogh Museum’s official gift shop, where you’ll also find other limited-edition, officially licensed Van Gogh pieces, like Samsonite luggage inspired by Van Gogh’s Almond Blossom and Franz Collection teapots with art from Sunflowers. All the proceeds from these collaborations will be set aside to help preserve Van Gogh’s legacy and collection of art, keeping it accessible for future generations to come.
