Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is now looking to become a heavyweight in another industry—cannabis! That’s right, Tyson recently broke ground on a remote piece of land in the Mojave Desert where he plans to build Tyson Ranch, a full-fledged marijuana resort and cultivation farm.

The 40-acre plot of land is roughly 110 miles from Los Angeles and, more importantly, a short drive away from Edwards Air Force Base, where Tyson hopes to make taking care of army veterans a top priority. Beyond the actual resort, the ranch will reportedly dedicate 20 acres for marijuana cultivation and will also include an edibles factory, an amphitheater, and even an area for “glamping.”

The groundbreaking ceremony included Tyson and two of his business partners, Robert Hickman and Jay Strommen, along with California City Mayor Jennifer Wood, who hopes the ranch will help spir a much-needed rebirth for her small town. The city has looked to marijuana to help boost its economy in the past several years by making efforts to attract marijuana-related businesses, and with recreational marijuana now legal throughout the state of California as of January 1st, both Tyson and the mayor hope to fully capitalize on it.
