Nike LeBron 15 Ashes Sneakers ($185)
You don’t need to be a sneakerhead to know that most of LeBron’s kicks to date have typically been on the wrong side of fashion. Ok, fine—they were ugly AF. But ask LeBron and he’ll be the first to tell you that redemption comes in many shapes and sizes—specifically 8-11 in the all-new LeBron 15 Ashes.
Yes, “Ashes,” as in what “they” tried to reduce him to and what he seemingly rose from. Or so the Nike website says. And while the symbolism in the name certainly holds true, the symbolism in the look and feel of them holds even truer.
Designed with Nike’s new Flyknit technology dubbed “BattleKnit,” the kicks move heavily toward the new sock/sneaker combo trend we’ve been witnessing of late, with the knitted technology now denser in the upper and increasingly so toward the middle, where stability is key. The sole then incorporates both Nike Air and Nike Zoom technology, making the kicks not only look pretty badass, but feel it too. And let’s not forget about the Nike swoosh, which has been seamlessly embedded in reverse on the bottom just above the sole, creating a clever nod to the sneaker’s namesake.
Speaking of names, the kicks partially get theirs from their ash-like color, with tiny specs of ashes randomly sprinkled along the bottom and sole. Combine that with the other features of the sneakers and you get a reptile-like vibe that we must admit looks pretty dope. And at $185 a pair, it better be.
