ICON Duesey Wristwatch ($11,500)
Known for its modern interpretations of vintage vehicles, ICON has been making waves in the design world for almost 20 years and counting, and now founder Jonathan Ward is pushing those waves to new territories with ICON’s first-ever timepiece, the ICON Duesey Watch.
Powered by a Dubois-Depraz Automatic 14400 module with an ETA 2892-A2 top base, the Swiss-made timepiece comes housed in a 42mm titanium body with its own custom-made oscillating weight built from Tungsten Alloy—complete with yellow gold plated markings and a brass-applied lizard on back.
Continuing with the reptile theme, the strap is finished with genuine alligator leather that lies beautifully with the unique dial design, which is clearly the highlight of the timepiece. Built with genuine onyx stone, it features a single vintage Jump Hour display coupled with a Wandering Minutes display that seamlessly work together to reveal the time. A time that’s elegantly displayed on a white background which contrasts beautifully against the jet black of the onyx-stoned face.
The timepiece has been years in the making and just recently became available for purchase, with estimated deliveries beginning some time in early 2018. Unfortunately they’ll only be 50 of them made, but perhaps if they move enough, more will follow. If anything, we’d love to see newer models and versions to complement the one-of-a-kind design. Who knows, maybe even an entire collection under the ICON name. Now that would certainly be something to look forward to. Only time will tell…
