Coming off of last year’s well-received collaboration, Adidas Originals and Alexander Wang have decided to team up yet again for an upcoming “Season 2” collection.
This year, the collection takes a bit of a turn towards some more unconventional wares, namely cycling, as the line includes a new wave of athletic gear inspired by cycling, bike messengers, and the underground rave scene. This translates into “rave-friendly” neon yellow cycling onesies, jerseys, and shorts coupled with sharp black contrasting and prominent Adidas branding throughout.
Cycling onesies not your speed? Well fret not, as those who aren’t spending their evenings biking from one underground rave to another can still make use of the collection, as the new Season 2 cycling wares will also be accompanied by more traditional sportswear such as tees, hoodies, and non-spandex shorts and tops. In fact, one of our favorite pieces from the collection are the AW Bleach Shorts, a pair of 100% French terry-clothed gym shorts available in both neon yellow and matte gray that come with a convenient zipper fly, back pocket, and the Adidas Originals 3-Stripes symbol bleached onto the back pocket and sides. For comfort, functionality, and style, they really can’t be beat.
Of course this wouldn’t be a true Adidas collection without some Adidas footwear, and Season 2 introduces the AW Hike Lo sneaker, a pair of trainers inspired by the Adidas Marathon TR shoes that come in a bright yellow or pastel-like pink premium suede upper along with Adidas’s Boost™ technology built into the bottom. Definitely a bit bold at first glance, but after a few more looks we’ve kind of grown to liking them. Whether your morning running path will is another story.
The new Adidas Originals by Alexander Wang Season 2 collection was already released exclusively here in New York City this past Saturday, with the official global launch taking place this Saturday, August 5th, both online and at select Alexander Wang and Adidas Originals retail locations.
