Todd Snyder took his new 2017 spring/summer collection on a bit of a detour this year as he veered away from his more sartorial style and, capitalizing on his relationship with Champion, hopped on the trend towards more athletic-inspired pieces.

Using his recent trips to Europe and Monaco’s famed Grand Prix as a racy, sporty reference, the collection (seen here) showed off modern takes on fifties Harrington jackets, striped terry crewnecks, taffeta driving jackets, and even retro track suits that seemed as if they had been pulled straight out of a Wes Anderson movie.

“I needed to shift a bit,” Snyder said, “and with Champion in our wheelhouse, I thought, why not play with it?”

And play he did, mixing in the above and other spring/summer wares like slouchy tanks, striped Bermudas and tees, and a variety of lightweight spring and summer coats with light-washed Levi’s, New Balance kicks, and even nerdy, tinted Moscot shades to help round out the laid-back, warm-weather looks.

Of course it wouldn’t be a Todd Snyder show without a few, more tailored pieces, and those came in the form of double-breasted (and two-button) linen blazers, mohair pants, and several feather-light knits that proved you don’t have to go all street and sport to pull off that casual Sunday vibe.

Normally you’d have to wait until next season to shop the collection, but thankfully Todd’s been kind enough to release a few select pieces from the Monaco race-inspired line early. Supplies are limited though, so if you’re looking to cop some of the looks and styles from the recent show, shift into high gear and cruise on over to the site soon before they’re all sold out.
