In celebration of the historic Apollo 11 mission that put man on the moon back in 1967, New Balance has once again teamed up with fashion retailer J.Crew to create yet another exclusive interpretation of one of their classic designs, this time with the beloved 997’s.
Dubbed the “Moonshots,” these 997’s get a lunar-inspired makeover thanks to their off-white, cream-like suede with hints of gray that resemble the moon’s surface, along with dark leather accents and dark-blue mesh resembling the vast reaches of outer space. In addition, the new kicks will come in a special commemorative vacuumed packaging along with “far-out treats” (in-store only) while supplies last.
Fittingly enough, the sneakers will launch (see what we did there?) on July 20th at 10 am, the exact date almost 50 years ago of the famous Apollo 11 mission.
