STRAIN OVERVIEW
If you’ve been searching high and low for that truly sticky icky, you’ll find it in the aptly named Gorilla Glue #4. A potent hybrid strain famous for its abundance of sticky covered trichomes and crystals, this multi-awarded Cannabis Cup winner is sure to get you properly buzzed in no time. And considering where it’s bred from, it should come as no surprise.
Stemming from a tri-cross of ChemSis (a.k.a. Chem’s Sister) and Chocolate Diesel that was then bred with Sour Dubb, this powerful strain clearly shows traces of its famous cannabis lineage. While the overall fragrance is more of a piney, chemical-like smell, your nose will definitely pick up remnants of some of that signature Diesel scent. And as for taste, Gorilla Glue #4 seems to carry over more of that piney, earthy diesel flavor associated with ChemSis and Sour Dubb than the cocoa, coffee-like flavor of its Chocolate Diesel parent.
So where does the “#4” come from? Well, apparently from the strain’s phenotype. When the breeders first started experimenting with the strain, they discovered several different variations in the flower’s appearance due to different genes being highlighted in the tri-cross, so they decided #4 was the best all-around strain phenotype to build on. And from all the awards and accolades Gorilla Glue #4 has accumulated (1st place in both LA and Michigan 2014 Cannabis Cups, 1st place in 2015 World Cannabis Cup), it sure looks like they were right.
THE HIGH
Although it’s a hybrid, Gorilla Glue #4 definitely packs more of an indica-dominant punch. While the high is well-balanced as it gently wavers between the head and the body, you’ll still notice that heavy body feeling present throughout, albeit with less of the lethargic drowsiness typically associated with pure indica strains.
That being said, it’s still probably best to smoke this on a clear schedule, as you won’t want to be making lists or crunching numbers with a high this powerful. Besides, even if you did, you probably wouldn’t have the motivation to make it very far.
