- Molton Brown Tobacco Absolute Collection ($30-$65)
- King Louis XIII ($300/oz.)
Colognes and cannabis. An unlikely pairing, to say the least. But you might be surprised to learn that these two have more in common than you think. After all, they’re both carefully crafted and groomed to produce a certain feeling. A certain “high.” And they both achieve that feeling through certain sensual cues, particularly ones that start with our sense of smell. Granted, cannabis takes this to another level, but still, the similarities remain. And so too do the comparisons.
Hence we thought it appropriate to bring you a new type of cannabis pairing. One that relies less on our sense of taste and more on our sense of smell. And what better place to start than with one of the world’s most esteemed fragrant houses, London’s own Molton Brown, who, fittingly enough, have recently launched a new fragrance collection called Tobacco Absolute.
Inspired by famed eighteenth century British botanist Dr. William Houstoun and his discovery of a new type of tobacco leaf in South America, the new fragrance is a warm, complex combination of mature tobacco lifted by a subtle yet decisive hint of citrus. Notes that just happen to pair perfectly with the piney yet earthy musk fragrance of King Louis XIII cannabis. Or, as Leafly put it, notes that will “have you thinking of your last forest adventure.” And funny enough, a forest adventure is exactly what Molton Brown embarked on when they traveled to the jungles of South America to source Tobacco Absolute’s woodsy tobacco-leaf extracts.
So if you’re feeling a bit adventurous, go ahead and spark up a joint of King Louis XIII and compliment it with a few spritzes of Tobacco Absolute. Just be sure you’re up for the challenge, as King Louis XIII is a rather potent indica-dominant strain whose powerful effects can put a damper in any outdoor adventure if you’re not too careful.
